This digital image is derived from a vintage art print that reproduced a small illustration from a copy of the illuminated Persian manuscript Khamsa of Nizami dated 1525. The painting Bahram in Pavalion is in the style of the famous Persian artist Bihzad but cannot be attributed to that artist for sure. However it remains a beautiful example of Persian art. I love the little scenes of life it depicts and the questions it makes me ask about the culture. What is the person reading? What is in the bottles on the table? What are the two people on the lower left talking about? Are the two people inside the building lovers? I love when art poses questions and makes me think about history. I also like the pair of musicians on the right.
